Grown in the highlands of North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, this Bourbon lot comes from smallholder farmers surrounding the Kahondo Coffee Washing Station. At elevations of 1,500–1,900 meters, volcanic soil, abundant rainfall, and high altitude create ideal conditions for producing vibrant Arabica coffee. Through Virunga Coffee Company’s farmer training, agronomy programs, and investments in local infrastructure, coffee quality in the region continues to rise.
This naturally processed coffee is made from carefully hand-sorted ripe cherries and sun-dried on raised African beds for 12–15 days, allowing its rich fruit character to develop. Organic and Rainforest Alliance certified, the lot reflects both the unique terroir of eastern DRC and the dedication of the farmers who produce it.
